Combe Down home renovation
This project involved transforming a mid-20th-century semi-detached house in Combe Down into a light-filled, spacious, and functional family home. The original property suffered from a poor-quality side extension, a cramped kitchen, and small compartmentalised spaces that lacked flow. Our client sought a design that would open up the house, create a seamless transition from the front living room to the rear garden, and provide a flexible, welcoming space for family life.
Our solution was a large L-shaped side and rear extension featuring a cleanly detailed fixed rooflight that bathes the living areas in natural light. The flat roof design adds height and openness while framing views of the sloping garden. Generous sliding doors capitalise on the north-facing orientation, offering expansive garden views without the risk of summertime overheating. The result is a home that feels spacious, calm, and inviting year-round, with improved flow, enhanced functionality, and abundant storage to meet the client’s needs.
